The long-standing partnership between the global, high-tech engineering group Sandvik and Engineers Without Borders Sweden (EWB-SWE) is entering a new chapter. With a renewed agreement in place, Sandvik and EWB-SWE will continue their collaboration over the next two years.
For nearly a decade, the partnership has connected industrial expertise with volunteer-driven initiatives responding to humanitarian and sustainability challenges. Sandvik has played a vital role in enabling some of EWB-SWE’s most impactful activities, including hackathons, mapathons, mentorship programs, and international projects in Tanzania, as well as providing support for organizational development.
The collaboration has strengthened EWB-SWE’s access to technical expertise, project management capabilities, and international perspectives. At the same time, it has given Sandvik employees opportunities to contribute their skills in new contexts where engineering directly supports communities and advances sustainable development.

Looking ahead, the renewed agreement marks a shift toward deeper international collaboration, enabling the partners to scale their impact and respond to global challenges with greater precision and long-term perspective. As global challenges grow increasingly complex, cross-sector partnerships like this one are essential.
– The past eight years have shown how the synergies between EWB-SWE’s core mission and the technical expertise of Sandvik creates real and sustainable change. This makes the extension of our partnership with EWB-SWE a natural decision. For the years ahead we plan to deepen and expand our collaboration; through increased volunteering, more international projects and continued local engagement, says Björn Axelsson, Executive Vice President and Head of Human Resources at Sandvik.
– We are proud of the strong partnership we have built with Sandvik over the years. As one of our longest-standing collaborators, their commitment has played a key role in strengthening our organization and expanding our reach. Together, we can continue to create meaningful impact where it is needed most, says Marianne Grauers, Secretary General at Engineers Without Borders Sweden.
