We support the rebuilding of local communities affected by the glacial flood in Nepal.

On the morning of 26 August, a huge section of a glacier and a mountainside high in the Himalayas collapsed. Entire villages and communities were washed away or buried in mud by the flash floods.
Thousands of people stand without homes and schools. Soon, they will face the daunting task of rebuilding their communities and creating a new future.
This is where we can make a difference.
We support the rebuilding in partnership with our long-standing partner Build up Nepal. By raising funds today, we lay the foundation for long-term recovery and reconstruction of safe homes and schools in Nepal.
A dignified solution - The Temporary Home
Permanent housing may take years to construct. This forces families into basic emergency shelters that offer little protection against extreme temperatures. To address this, Build up Nepal has developed a dignified solution — The Temporary Home — that will provide a safe and comfortable living space to families throughout the long recovery phase.
The Temporary Home relies on locally sourced materials. Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEB Eco-bricks), bamboo, and mud—incorporating elevated flooring, thermal insulation and an optional separate cooking area. The concept is based on proven techniques and sustainable engineering, developed over the years with support from EWB-SWE.
Creating homes also means creating livelihoods. Local communities in Nuwakot are involved in the design and production of bamboo panel production in Bidur, Nuwakot. Local materials and local labour keep the money spent on rebuilding inside the community.
