Access to clean water and proper sanitation is essential for more children to attend school. Girls are most affected by poor sanitation. That’s why we want to build safe and sustainable school toilets at Mavuno’s Boarding Secondary School for Girls in Tanzania. Will you help us make it happen?

Safe Education for Girls in Tanzania
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Access to water and hygienic facilities is critical for learning. Yet, many schools in the the Karagwe and Kyerwa region in Tanzania lack basic infrastructure, forcing students to study in challenging conditions.
The absence of clean water means limited drinking water, difficulties in preparing meals and unhygienic toilets. For girls, the lack of adequate sanitation during menstruation leads to a 25% absence rate, jeopardising their future. We want to break this cycle by constructing safe and hygenic EcoSan toilets.
Our initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Tanzanian organisation Mavuno Project. Our collaboration, spanning over a decade, aims to create long-term solutions to water and sanitation challenges faced by schools, ultimately improving the educational experience for around 80,000 children.
WHY THIS MATTERS
For families in rural Tanzania, access to clean water at school can transform daily life. With better sanitation and water access, children stay healthier and are more likely to complete their education. Improved school environments also foster equality by enabling girls to attend school consistently.
We’ve already improved life for over 20,000 children and adults through clean water – now we want to do even more.
With your support, we can make it happen!
